Default Increasing your Sexual Stamina - Islam and Sex

Salams

Islam and Sex. As we live in a society where modesty is frowned upon I decided to write this post.
Abu Hamid Muhammad al-Ghazali

(May Allaah Give him and his family and his family tree and his students Janat) discussed this issue in great detail, in his book:
Al-Ghazali on Disciplining the Soul and on Breaking the Two Desires: Books XXII and XXIII of the Revival of the Religious Sciences

Quote:
The desire for women, which is the greatest of all desires, is susceptible to excess, defect, and equilibrium. Excess obstains when the intellect is overcome, so that a man's concern is so distracted towards the enjoyment of women and slavegirls that he is unable to tread the path of the Afterlife; or it may overcome a man's religion, so that he is drawn int obscene activities. This may become so extreme in some cases that two foul habits are acquired. Firstly, he may partake of something which makes him desire to have intercourse more often, just as some people take certain drugs which strengthen the stomach and allow them to eat more of the things they desire.
The first sentance alone just makes you want to read the book by heart and indeed Imam Ghazali was something - probably the greatest thinker to every walk the earth. SubhanAllaah.

Brothers and Sisters who are married often want to enjoy sex and to last longer

This is true. And it should be an enjoyment activity for both parties. So in order to last longer (males) they should do the following
  1. Cardio Cardio Cardio - Training Cardio areas of the body including working out and running, stretching.
  2. Regular Sex - The couple should be having sex regularly to increase performance, lower desire, enjoy each other and to learn about each other.
  3. The sunnah is to do wuhdu (ghusal too if you want) if you intend to have relationship with your wife more then once. This will help sustain a fresh body each time for both parties.
  4. Eating the correct carb meats, white breads, fruits and vegatables,
Ummah Forum Quoted on this

Quote:
Regarding reducing the carbs in your diet: carbohydrates are the primary fuel your body works on, cutting them out of your diet will not give you more energy. As a fat loss technique, reducing carbs can help but this is not recommeneded if you do a lot of training, as it reduces the efficiency of work outs as you have less energy. But if its extra energy that you want, reducing carbs is unlikely to help.

HOWEVER, there are good carbs and bad carbs. Bad carbs mess up your blood sugar levels and give you a short amount of energy followed by periods of feeling tired, weak and hungry (usually craving more bad carb foods) - wheras good carbs keep your blood sugar levels steady and give you a slow, sustained release of energy, so you have more energy and it also helps control cravings for unhealthy foods.

Good carbs include: wholegrain bread products, wholegrain pasta, brown rice, wholegrain cerials (for breakfast cerials check the ingredients/nturitional info for sugar though, some contain wholegrain cerial and a ton of sugar), potatoes if they are eaten as part of a meal (NOT chips!!), fresh vegetables and fruit.

bad carbs include: sugar, all white bread products, white pasta, most types of white rice (basmati is okay but brown basmati is better) and all kinds of cakes, biscuits, sweets etc and sugary drinks (even fruit juice is not that good for you, best to drink water and eat whole fruits)

As a rule of thumb, the more processed a carb food, the worse it will be for you, becuase the energy from the food will get into your blood more quickly - where it will cause an energy high, more of it will be stored as fat, and then you will feel tired/lacking energy. Good carbs take much longer to digest, so you get a slow, steady release of energy. No highs, no lows and provided you use all the energy by the end of the day, it doesn't get stored as fat. (if you eat more than you burn it will be stored as fat regardless of how healthy the actual food is)
Finally Ghazali tells a story

It has been narrated in Gharib Tradition that the Emissary of God (Allaah) (May God Bless Him and Grant Him Peace) said "I complained to Gabriel that I would like more strength when having intercourse with my wives, and he instructed me to eat Harisa, then you should know that he had (May Allaah Grant Him Peace) nine wives, and that he was obliged to satisfy them all, and that no-one was permitted to marry after his death, or even if he divorced them: his request for strength was therefore for this, and not for enjoyment *

Things to note about this story
Gharib = A Hadith which contains unusual lexis, or which is related by only one chain of authorities (Jurjani, Ta rifat)
Harisa = Harisa, of which there are several varieties, is a highly recommended dish made from wheatflour.

This somewhat austere view of the Prophet's (PBUH) sexuality does not fully coincide with the traditional picture presented in his biography, where his prowless is celebrated as a further aspect of his human perfection. According to one account, 'The Prophet (PBUH) used to visit all his views in a single day and night - and there were eleven of them'.
(Qadi Iyad Shifa, 1.195)
AND in this connection, 'He (PBUH) had given the strength of thiry men'
(Bukhari, Ghusl, 12)

The Imam may be introducing this attitude for 'strategic' reasons.
